Pré requis
The student should possess basic insights with regard to:
- the functioning of organizations and the management of organizations.
- the functioning of people and groups in organizations.
Objectifs du cours
Show evidence of having an extensive knowledge base on the frameworks, techniques and methods available to integratively manage the inflow and outflow of employees. At the end of the course the student should be familiar with managing both flow types, understand their linkages, connect them to throughflow, and acknowledge the importance of an integrated approach. He or she should then have substantial knowledge to:
- plan the workforce (inflow).
- perform job analysis and develop job descriptions (inflow).
- develop appropriate recruitment strategies in organizations (inflow).
- decide on adequate selection approaches (inflow).
- understand and recognize the dynamics of various kinds of employee turnover (outflow).
- develop employee retention programs in firms (outflow).
- integratively manage the employee flows.
- have greater awareness of ESRS topics related to inflow/outflow management (e.g. ethical issues in
hiring and firing employees, related organizational justice, etcetera).
Contenu du cours
This is an advanced course on HRM in intensive format. It deeply explores HRM practices related to two types of workforce flows in organizations (in and out). During the sessions the lecturer will introduce and explain the core theory based on the course material. Students will be asked to work on exercises, discuss cases and present their ideas on specific topics. Students are expected to participate actively in the course.

Évaluation
The student is assessed on the course based on three components: class participation (20%), a written individual project (50%) and a written group work (30%). A detailed description of the individual project and the group work will be available on ieseg-online at the start of the course.
