Pré requis

Students should have basic knowledge of statistics. They should also have a good understanding of important issues in the Information Systems field.

Objectifs du cours

At the end of the course the student should be able to :
- explain the basic tenents of research,
- find and sythesize existing research (literature),
- develop a good research question,
- choose an appropriate research method,
- design and communicate a qualitative research method

Contenu du cours

This course introduces the language of research, relevant ethical principles and challenges, and the elements of the research process related to quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches. In teams, participants will complete a structured literature review in their area of interest. Additionally, teams will develop a qualitative research proposal to address one of the research questions developed in the literature review.

Évaluation

Students will complete a final examination of the material covered in the textbook and lecture sessions. Additionally, students will complete a group project consisting of two deliverables: a structured literature review and a qualitative research proposal. Supporting this, students will individually read and summarize related research articles and in-class activities will be completed and assessed. Supporting this, students will complete in-class activities individually and in groups.
