Objectifs du cours
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Understand and define the concept of Lean manufacturing
- Understand main differences applying Lean in Services vs. Industry
- Use key Lean's tools as VSM, PDCA, 5S, Visual control...etc.
- Develop a Lean strategy for a Services firm and for an Industry one
Contenu du cours
This course first goes through Lean’s definitions, concepts, theories and tools. Students will understand why 80% of Lean’s implementation fails and how should a successful strategy be structured.
Then, because Lean has first been created by industrial firms, applying it to Services requires some adaptations. Students will participate to real Lean projects by visiting, half a day, a company (Sodexo) in order to apply some Lean tools. Groups will then present their findings in front of professionals who will come to IESEG and listen to recommendations.
As a consequence, the course will be focusing on both theoretical and practical learning; on-site projects make this course unique in IESEG and require a high interest (not a high knowledge) in that field from students participating.
