Pré requis

Knowledge about what the basic techniques in HRM are: recruitment and selection, training, performance management and compensation.

Objectifs du cours

At the end of the course the student should be able to :
* formulate the importance of talent management for organizations in today's society
* be aware of the different ways to define and assess talent
* master the appropriate techniques and display expertise to recognize, define and describe (the value of) different approaches to talent management
* critically identify the impact talent management has on employees and the organization as a whole
* provide recommendations for the development and implementation of a talent management program
* have greater awareness about topics related to ethics and corporate social responsibility in talent management such as (in)justice, secrecy and talent derailment.

Contenu du cours

This course consists of four major parts:
1. Part 1: The ‘war for talent’: In this part, we discuss what the war for talent is and why talent management is becoming increasingly important for organizations.
2. Part 2: Defining and measuring talent. This part will focus on different definitions of talent and on identifying which tools exist to assess talent
3. Part 3: Defining talent management. In this part, different approaches to talent management will be discussed and evaluated as well as the development of a talent management program.
4. Part 4: The dark side of talent management. This part will focus on typical managerial problems related to talent management (e.g. derailment, burnout, justice issues, secrecy,…)
