Contenu du cours

This extensive course is focused on work transformations (new work practices and workplace evolutions) in the context of the digitization of our world and the collaborative economy. Several factors have broken down the nature and form of organizations, as well as their classic frontiers: the increased importance of knowledge work and service industries, the development of information technologies, the evolution of employee’s expectations, mobility issues, as well as costs and space pressures. These factors have led to the development of new work practices and new working arrangements that we explore in this course, such as distributed and remote work, nomadism, telework, distant project-based work, virtual teams, and the emergence of third collaborative workplaces, like coworking spaces. These work practices and workplace transformations impact the social space, territoriality and materiality of organizations and present huge challenges for management. This course aims at investigating these transformations and analyzing their managerial, social, political, digital, ethical, spatial and temporal impacts, in order to better understand what the office of the future will look like, and analyze its impacts for management
