Pré requis
Good knowledge of the fundamentals of IR and a rudimentary knowledge of Asia.
Objectifs du cours
This course aims to provide an understanding of the specificities and trajectories of East Asia, from China to Japan, including the Korean peninsula and South East Asia. We will endeavor to study the spatial and social dynamics of the countries concerned, but also policies and diplomacy, as well as security issues. A geopolitical and geoeconomic aspect will be particularly highlighted, as will military and strategic issues (nuclear, maritime security, sovereignty, etc.).
Contenu du cours
It is an 18-hour lecture course, during each course a PPT, interview extracts and case studies will be screened in various formats.
Modalités d'enseignement
Organisation du cours
Lecture course with systematic interaction with the promotion. Active student participation is expected. Three hours lessons per week:
January 30th : 13h-16h
February 6th : 13h – 16h
February 13th : 13h – 16h
February 20th : 13h – 16h
March 12th ; 13h- 16h
March 19th : 13h 16h
Student assessment:
- Policy paper /summary on a subject relating to the course and defined with the teacher (security, politics, soft power, military ands strategic affairs, etc.).
- A quiz.
The test (writing of policy paper + quiz) will last approximately 2h30 and be held in class towards the end of the course cycle.
