Prerequisites
Students commonly took the course Negotiation Research Methods before taking the current course. That being said, students are expected to understand the basic knowledge about business research.
Learning outcomes
The primary objective of this course is to prepare students for their 5th year dissertation through the reading and analysis of scientific papers in the field of negotiation, as well as the leading of a concrete research project from problem definition to methodology design. At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- formulate research proposals,
- build of conceptual frameworks,
- identify assumptions and formulation of hypotheses,
- design appropriate research methods: qualitative or quantitative method,
- analyze empirical results,
- make a presentation of research results in report format
Course description
The course combines lectures and tutorials and relies heavily on problem solving as the main pedagogical tool. Active participation of students is therefore necessary. The course topics include:
- research question
- literature review
- theory and hypothesis
- study design
- data analysis
- presentation and writing
