Course description

This course is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the role that Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERPs) play in an organization. To do so, we will use a combinaion of concepual learning and hands on learning using a game based approach.

Using a simulation game (ERPsim), students are placed in a situation in which they have to run their business with a real-life ERP (SAP ERP) similar to those used by the world’s largest companies. Teams of four students are tasked with operating a company and must interact with suppliers and customers by sending and receiving orders, delivering their products, completing the whole cash-to-cash cycle. Using reports from SAP, students must analyze their transactional data to make business decisions and to ensure profitability of their operations. Students will compete with each other to reach the highest profit.
