Course description

Chapter 1: Sustainable Development: Introduction and Definitions
Chapter 2: Indicators and Measurements of Sustainable Development
(Green GDP, real savings, real progress, ecological footprint)
Chapter 3: Optimal Management of Natural Resources
(Renewable and non-renewable resources, externalities, Coase’s Theorem, transborder problems)
Chapter 4: Environmental Protection Instruments
(Regulations, laws, taxes, markets)
Chapter 5: Private Management of Environmental Risks
(Types of risks, cost-profit analysis, insurance, businesses strategies)
Chapter 6: Public Management of Environmental Risks
(International agreements, international and environmental commerce…)
Chapter 7: Social Dimension of Environmental Politics
Chapter 8: Case Study: Air
(Carbon tax, the CO2 market, etc…)
