1. The functioning and management of organizations;
2. The functioning of people in organizations.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Understand main strategy theories, and apply them to organizations that operate in increasingly global
markets;
- Answer the question: 'What determines the success or failure of firms around the globe?;
- Implement the "strategy tripod" to analyze strategy from an industry-, institution-, and resource-based
view;
- Understand the strategy formulation process in international business;
- Gain insight into the decision-making process underpinning international business strategic management (AACSB);
- Identify and discuss challenges and opportunities that globalization of markets poses to companies;
- Understand the activities, goals, and responsibilities of organizations active in a global environment (AACSB);
- Have greater awareness about ESRS topics such as: The relevance of CSR for companies that operate in
international markets, triple bottom line, stakeholder theory.
Course description
The course is designed to immerse students into the theory of strategic management, with a strong focus on internationalization. Through lectures, case studies, and student presentations this course addresses basic and more developed strategy formulation and implementation in international business. Combining theoretical concepts with creative thinking, participants are expected to accumulate strategic knowledge and behaviors that support strategy development in a global world.

Assessment
The instructor expects students to actively participate and behave responsibly in the course sessions. The student is assessed on the course based on four components: class participation, case study, class presentations, and a written exam.
