Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Understand the major approaches and related methodologies of project management;
- Engage in a work breakdown structure (WBS) to thoroughly understand the activities of a project;
- Acquire the tools necessary to effectively manage time and resources for leading business projects in diverse environmental contexts (AACSB);
- Manage carefully a project's milestones, time required (Gantt), and available resources (e.g., budget);
- Build and organize an effective project team.
Course description
This course introduces students to the following topics:
- Projects and project management: Definitions, characteristics, history, and actual scenarios;
- WBS, OBS, RAM and GANTT: The tools of project management;
- Project and team organization;
- Influence, matrix, and dedicated project organizations. Alignment of task and organizational architectures;
- Risk management: Planning and operating management;
- Project leader’s competences and the social relations in a project.
