General overview- Presentation
Language, literature and civilization - these are the three main themes of this course in English and American Studies. This course allows students, as well as improving their oral and written expression in English, to gain a better perspective of the contemporary world and an in-depth knowledge of the countries where English is the main language. It aims to give students an international world view with a specific emphasis on understanding foreign cultures and various aspects of the English language, preparing them for wide variety of Masters degrees in the international domain including English Teaching qualifications in France. As well as English, students may choose electives from thirteen different languages taught by the Clarife language school: German, Arabic, Bosnian-Croatian-Montenegrin-Serbian, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Hindi and Turkish. From the first semester onwards, students build their own study plan, choosing electives relevant to their future career like Business English, Introduction to Journalism, Didactics or Marketing. - Professional opportunities for graduates
Primary and high school teachers, university professors, research professors, and as a French language teacher abroad, and in the domain of public office. A career in international communication for companies. Students of the LCE will easily find employment as teachers within France, in particular because of the needs related to the demand for newer hires but also abroad where the quality of their training will enable them to integrate within other educational systems of the Anglo-Saxon world. Having acquired a Master Degree in their specific field, students of the LCE will be sought-after in the field of communication, publishing, translation, radio and television and many global companies. - Professor(s) in charge
